Our F1 in Schools Histroy:
2013-14 - We took part in our first F1 in Schools competition whilst in Year 9. This was the Bloodhound SSC Class which is a less complex section of the competition for younger competitiors. In the North East Regional Final we took 2nd Place and so advanced to the UK National Final at the NEC in Birmingham where we enjoyed 3 days of intense competition. This was our first taste of F1 in Schools and our experience pushed us to compete the next year.
2014-15 - In this season of F1 in Schools we had to compete in the much more complex F1 Class of the event due to our age. We were able to achieve Best Engineered Car which is one of the most challenging awards you can earn. Unfortunately we just missed out on a National Final Place but this only made us more determined to improve and progress futher in the future.
2015-16 - This is the most recent competiton in which we took part. With what we learned from previosu experiences we went to the Regional Final more prepared than we had ever been. In the regional final we won The Research and Development Award, claimed 2nd Place and advanced to the UK National Final with the support of £1500 from the fantastic Reece Foundation. This is an achievement which all of our team remains very proud of. We then went to the UK National Final at Silverstone Rcaing Circuit, the home of the British Grand Prix. Here we won The Award for Team Identity and gained yet more valued experience and friends. Next year we hope to work hard enough to travel one step further to the World Finals and we have never been more determined to do so.
From taking part in these events we recieved exposure in several newspapers as well on BBC Look North. Please take a look at the slide show below to see photos and details on some of these events.
